Still Up?

Julia Hartmann | Germany

Every living being has to sleep at some point. But not all sleep in the same way. Some sleep best in their own bed, others can even sleep while flying.

“Still Up?” is a picture book for young and old that showcases nearly all the different ways of sleeping. The concept of the book is to present the various ways in which living beings sleep. Each double-page spread contrasts different types of sleepers and compares them through illustrations. In doing so, different types or even places of sleep are explored. In this way, the book explores a topic that concerns us all, one we ideally don’t have to think too much about. Still, it’s worth taking a closer look, even when others are already closing their eyes.

The book format is 200mm x 270 mm.

The idea for the book came to me one night when I couldn’t fall asleep. I found myself wondering how other people sleep, whether, like me, they enjoy sleeping alone, or if they prefer having someone beside them. Then more and more images filled my mind, and sleep was no longer an option...
