Joel fancies himself to be a great explorer like his heroes Charles Darwin, David Attenborough and Steve Irwin. When a "New species of exotic bird" is spotted in his town he decides to discover it, but not everyone is convinced he will be able to do it. After a great adventure, the intrepid explorer finally discovers the bird at the very last moment! HE DID IT! And now it's straight home for a bath and bed. However, the bird maybe isn't all what it seems. In fact... it might just be a seagull... covered in curry... but Joel doesn't know that, and is very content with his new exotic friend.
This funny little book is based on a true story. In 2016 a BBC news article reported about a seagull being dyed orange, and how locals of South Wales thought it was a new species of bird. What is even more mental, is that isn't the only time it's happened!
