"Papa what's your job" playfully explores the question of the fathers occupation, showing that dads can be a stay at home parent too.
It explores the special relationship between a girl her father. With the big question of what her dad's job is, the father cleverly responds with the many tasks he performs at home. The child repeatedly counters that these aren't "real" jobs. When with a heartwarming ending, the father finally explains that his job is to be her dad. The book serves as a social commentary on our society and how it often under appreciates the role of parents.
This project was created during a six week module at cambridge school of art using mixed media consisting of Panpastels, watercolour, ink, pencil, gouache, collage and digital colour editing and sketches.
Playing with form and medium, the size and softness of the father was very important to convey the feeling of safety and love.
