"Boketto" is Japanese for staring into the distance without much thought at all. This whimsical tale celebrates the art of daydreaming and finding beauty in the ordinary. Through my illustrations and storytelling, the book takes readers on a journey of wonder and contemplation, inspired by my love of Japanese culture, philosophy, and the power of imagination.
In "Boketto," we meet Miwa, a curious girl with a vivid imagination. One night, while gazing through her bedroom window, she embarks on an enchanting flight of fancy to escape a looming pile of unread books. Along the way she encounters a mysterious black cat and a half-lit moon, learning to let go of worries and find joy in life's simple pleasures. "Boketto" aims to captivate readers with poetic language, subdued nighttime colors, evocative imagery and a subtle exploration of life's imperfections.
