Catalina Kobelt & Pablo Gauthier | Argentina
The girl without a shadow tells the story of a girl who is born with this peculiarity. Nobody realizes it until one day their parents notice it and in such a situation, they have the urgent need to solve that… problem?
It is an object book with many interactive instances that support the narration of the story together with the image and the text.
The expectations that society places on children, the desire for normality and conformity, appearances, the look of others, accepting oneself, valuing the differences of others, are some of the themes that are dealt with in the book.
It seeks to amuse and surprise the reader at every turn of the page, showing the excessive concern that can overwhelm adults who are new to the role of parents, the absurdity of the need for control and the attempt to "normalize", the silliness of finding problems where there are none and how things get tangled up by wanting to fix what doesn't really need to be fixed. Or does it?

The book includes an insert of a small fanzine: an absurd medical vademecum, that is not translated in the attached pdf. There’s also another short text in the back cover of the book held by the parents (page 17) that hasn’t been translated either.
