Trace

Jiyeon Park | South Korea

“Trace” is a picture book depicting the process of letting my beloved dog go.

It was a challenging task to organize his now ownerless belongings.
Things that used to blend in with the norm now are found as traces of my dog.
In particular, his white fur, which continued to be found, made us feel like we were accompanying him, not parting.
Most of the compositions in the picture book are close-ups. This is because the readers should experience being both an observer and a participant.

We experience many partings in our lives.
People, countless living things such as animals and plants, and even the smallest and trivial things say goodbye someday.
Have you ever discovered traces left in empty spaces from parting? This book was created with the hope that you would find the warm message these traces provide.

•”Trace” is a wordless/silent picturebook.
