Yoko Heiligers | Netherlands
The project PEOPLESANIMALS is the result of Yoko’s love and respect for animals and her observations on different ways people (including herself) approach animals. For example: some animals are pets to us, some we eat and others we admire at the zoo.
PEOPLESANIMALS is an animal collection inspired by vintage school wall charts. In this book all animals are divided in seperate segments, which represent different views on that specific animal, accompanied by words.
PEOPLESANIMALS is both informative and empathetic, and therefor recognizeable by everyone from the age of 7 and older. Yoko would like to share her fascination with the reader of this picturebook on the complex relationship between peoples and animals, as well as their beauty.
