The Education is a book about cultural genocide and the inspiration came from many colonial histories around the world. Since the most common method for the oppressors to control a place is through education, therefore, it is aimed to show how the education system erases a certain culture’s identity.
The images in this book are combined with hand-drawn illustrations and digital textures to create nostalgic and timeworn feelings, to imply the character’s identity had become history. The first thing came into my mind was photo albums, hence I use photographs to separate two time frames—the past and the presence. As for the text, it is written from the oppressor's viewpoints to make the contrast from the images.
