Emma meets the shaggy dog at the edge of the big meadow. He has lost joy of life and would prefer to be dead. Emma cannot stand idly by! The short-sighted but broad-minded girl decides to find good reasons why life is worth living, every day anew. Of course, the dog is never satisfied with Emma's attempts, but generous as he is, he keeps giving her another chance to find that one really good reason after all, secretly enjoying Emma's presence and attention.
A conversation develops between two unequal characters about the meaning of life, about friendship and, last but not least, about strawberry ice cream.
Emma can't save the dog, he can only save himself. But with the help of Emma's glasses he learns to see the world with different eyes, and this change of perspective helps quite a lot - the world can be very beautiful when it is out of focus. And if one can even make a friend in the meantime, life may have gotten a little better at the end of the day.
