The Dress

Tita Berredo | Brazil

In love with her rag-doll in a little dress, a girl spends the days dancing her way from home, through the park, and to her mother’s work. The magic doesn’t stop while the girl has her dressed rag-doll, and nothing could break them apart. Until one day, when the girl falls asleep on the ride back home and accidentally leaves her precious doll on the bus. The world loses its colour and she feels like she’ll never be happy again. But her mum was right there watching, and with her skills and help from friends she makes the most beautiful and special dress in the world. The Dress is about getting lost in play with a much loved toy — that one transformative dress, superhero cape, tiara, or pair of cowboy boots that we all had as a child —, that something that gave us a sense of joy and power and presence and becoming. A story about that magic which lives within children that can make a spectacle out of the simplest of things.
